Biography
I like to explore the boundaries of materials and structures. I am motivated by colour and texture and the juxtoposition of objects and their environment. I enter a zen spirit world like a Shaman when I work and this can be almost anywhere although I have learned to contain it to my workspace, as it is less messy!
I have to teach textiles in a great school but they are very tolerant of my creative impulses and are usually very supportive of my persuits.
Pupils are increasingly motivated by materials and their capabilities. Textiles has an enormous past/history but it is the future which really excites me
Interests
Nature is my inspiration especially insects at present although close behind them is my cat Miya a chocolate burmese who is now 14!! I can crochet anything but not knit. I do not like it when people can't tell the difference between knitting and crochet.
